Sažetak
The Department of Systematic and Topographical Anatomy (later the Department of Anatomy) started its work in 1919 as a part of the Veterinary High School in Savska Street. The first lecture at the school was the lecture on anatomy on 13th November 1919 delivered by Prof. Jaroslav Sakař, at that time the Head of the Department. The Department of Histology and Embryology started its work two years later, on 30th November 1921. The first Head of the Department was Prof. Dr. Fran Zavrtnik. Two separate departments, Department of Anatomy and Department of Histology and Embryology, were moved in 1948 to Vjekoslav Heinzel Street to the premises of the newly constructed Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The unique Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology was established on 23rd June 1951. On 6th December 2019 the event “the First Hundred Years of the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb” marked the anniversary of the department. The celebration was organized at the Amphitheatre of the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology.
