Sažetak
If studied in bulk, epigraphic monuments can help us to establish patterns in the society' s traditions on the life after death. Relying on inscriptions from Pannonia Inferior – both as written sources and physical artifacts – this paper attempts to provide meaningful answers to the following questions: How did the local population denominate spirits and ghosts? Can we schematically outline the variety of ways to invoke them? What are the most noticeable changes between the early and high imperial times concerning the lexical choice? What was the role of inheritance within the interaction between the living and the dead? The intention is to sketch out a broad picture of the traditions about the afterlife in Pannonia Inferior, as well as to facilitate future similar studies in this area.
