Sažetak
Even though Little Entante of Women (LEW) was well known regional women´s alliance in 1920ties, it is vaguely covered by contemporary historiography. Usually it is, quite inaccurately, treated as women´s appendix of the regional political alliance with the similar name- Little Entante. The foundation of LEW (1923) was the result of two separate women´s regional cooperation initiatives: Balkan and Slavic. Therefore, the new alliance gathered feminist organizations from Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Romania and Greece and it aimed to promote women´s movement and pacifism. In its short existence it organized five conferences, one in each capital. There they discussed women´s position in family and legislation and peaceful solutions to the political issues between the member countries. But by 1929 the political efforts of the alliance divided its members in two blocks: Romania, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia insisted on expanding their political activity, and Greece and Poland advocated focusing primarily on women´s question and pacifism and changing the name of the alliance. The differences proved to be insurmountable. However, LEW was renewed in the mid-thirties, but now reduced to three countries (actual members of Little Entante) and with activities limited to women´s cultural cooperation. The paper will focus on three mayor issues: 1. The impact of LEW on promoting women´s issues in the member countries ; 2. LEW as tool of positioning new, small, regional women´s movements within the global women´s alliances ; 3. Pacifism and political ambitions of the LEW and its actual correlation with the Little Entante.
