Sažetak
Even though jātakas are generally defined as an illustration of Bodhisattva´s path towards his last existence and the attainment of nirvāṇa, nevertheless they do not represent that path as a solitary one. Jātakas offer plenty of information about other personages and take Bodhisattva´s path as closely interrelated with the paths of other beings. The first part of this paper offers a survey of jātakas in which members of Buddha´s closest family appear, namely his father Śuddhodana, mother Māyā, stepmother Mahāprajāpatῑ, wife Yaśodharā and son Rāhula. The aim of the second part, which is based mostly on Walters´ concept of sociokarma, is to highlight some parts of extracted jātakas which can serve as an explanation for their continuous relationship with Buddha/ Bodhisattva. The research is based on Mahāvastu – a work belonging to the Lokottaravāda subsect of Mahāsaṅghika and preserved in Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit.
