Sažetak
Throughout a long period of time the role of women had been restricted to their traditional family structure. Therefore, they had been deprived of any kind of engagement in social activities, while their identity had been reduced to that of a mother and a housewife. In spite of that, in the 19th century it was not uncommon for women to go beyond the boundaries of their homes. However, almost till the middle of the 20th century they had been sentenced to social positions of minor importance. In this context, World War I and the post-war period present a special area of research.
