Sažetak
This paper analyzes the erotic poetry of Polish modernism from the perspective of Croatian literature, comparing the poems by male (Przerwa-Tetmajer, Przybyszewski, Kasprowicz, Korab Brzozowski) to erotic poems of women authors (Komornicka, Ostrowska, Zawistowska, Wolska). In Polish poetry, the female voice addressing desire, sexuality and corporeality is not only present, but also bolder and more articulate than the male voice. In contrast, in the same period of Croatian poetry similar phenomena are absent, as are women authors in general, that would occupy a stable position in the literary field. However, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries both literatures are dominated by two female figures, adopted from social and cultural paradigms and petrified by literary conventions: either that of a femme fatale with demonic traits, or that of a virgin with saintly traits. This article demonstrates that we owe the valuable distancing from this reductive and humiliating representation of women to Polish women authors.
