Sažetak
This contribution addresses and interprets the role of theatre in the celebratory performance that took place in the Croatian National Theatre on the occasion of Franjo Tuđman’s 75th birthday, under the title Seh križneh putov konec i kraj [Of Ways of the Cross the Final End]. Besides presenting it as a telling symptom of a curiously postmodern stylistic and ideological clash that served as cover for some of the cruder dimensions of the Croatian transition, the contribution discusses the way in which the ceremony was alluded to in Branko Brezovec’s production of Miroslav Krleža’s Veliki meštar sviju hulja [The Great Master of all Scoundrels] in Zagreb Youth Theatre (2001).
