Sažetak
Croatian model derives from the extensive experience from searching for missing persons from the Homeland war in the 90 ’s and its aftermath During the last 25 years, investigations of the gravesites from the Homeland War, World War II and the post war period were conducted by different entities with varying success Therefore, the Model represents a systematic, scientific and professional approach to the sensitive issue of missing persons as a consequence of war This issue spans across generations and it became an integral part of day to day life, subtly influencing its every aspect from politics and economy to educational system Directorate for Detained and Missing Persons of The Ministry for Croatian Veterans, as the main coordinating body, is actively developing Croatian model of searching for missing persons and its operational functions This presentation will cover standard operating procedures employed within its jurisdiction, in addition to the examples and the results of recent investigations of mass graves conducted across Croatia
