Sažetak
The unusual weather conditions of spring of 1453, possibly brought on by the effects of the Kuwae eruption, worsened by the effect of plague and war in the southeastern area of Bosnia, caused migration of starved people towards Dalmatian cities, especially Dubrovnik and Split, in 1453 and 1454, to the extent not previously known. Dalmatian authorities felt obliged to provide them with some shelter and aid in food, but at the same time, fearing for safety and sanitary conditions of their cities and subjects, tried to control their movement, and get rid of them as soon as possible, often trying to solve problem by group transportation to Italy. At the same time, sources show migrants trying to provide for their children, giving them the only possible prospect in life in their condition: the life of the non- qualified workforce in affluent households.
