Sažetak
This thesis comprises six translations with commentary. Excerpts from four books were translated from English into Croatian (Willetts, David: A University Education, Kenneth, Christie: United States Foreign Policy and National Identity in the Twenty- First Century, Evans Caroline B. R. and Smokowski Paul R.: Bullying and Victimization Across the Lifespan: Playground Politics and Power, and Pickering Michael.: Stereotyping: The Politics of Representation), and two from Croatian into English (Karakaš, Damir: Sjećanje šume and Borić, Marijana: Faust Vrančić - portret izumitelja). The commentary focused on the translation of culture-specific items and terms with a special emphasis on the method of excplicitation. Each text is followed by a discussion about translation solutions employed, with regard to text type, register and the intended target audience.
