Sažetak
Introduction: In this study authors have analyzed the correlation between values of T and B lymphocytes with the findings of oral mucosa in smoker´s student population. Aims of the study: To determine the correlation between value of T and B lymphocytes and changes of oral mucosa in smokers and non smokers student population. Material and methods: The prospective, randomized study based on data processed in P.I. Institute for students Public Health Care of the University of Sarajevo. We created specially survey records to evident the white leasons of oral mucosis with regard to the clinical inspection. We used a blood samples for laboratory analysis to determine the value of lymphocytes. Results: Reserech have included 120 students at the University of Sarajevo, aged 18 to 26 years. There were classified into two groups: 60 students of smokers and 60 students of non-smokers. The total number of smokers of both sexes with changed oral mucosa was 30 (50.00%) with a mean value of their lymphocytes in the total percentage of 31.57%. Corresponding mean value of T lymphocytes in smokers of both sexes, in total, amounted 23.68%, and the corresponding mean value of B lymphocytes amounted 7.89%. Testing the correlation between smokers of both sexes, total (30) in lesions on the oral mucosa and the corresponding mean values of T lymphocytes (23.68%) or B lymphocytes (7.89%), we found a positive correlation of 0.625944 between these groups. Discussion and Conclusion: In our research, we found changes in the oral mucosa of 50% smokers , compared to 10% of the changes we found in non-smokers. Results showed that baseline lymphocyte count is 21.0 to 46.0. In peripheral blood the value of T lymphocytes is 75% (3/4), and B lymphocytes 25% (1/4). Correlation of nicotine addiction (smoking) in young population, their immune system and the equivalent of T and B lymphocytes as mediators of cellular and humeral immunity, refers to the oral mucosal screening examinations and preventive educational programs to quitting an addiction.
