Sažetak
The effects of the spent subsrate fed to Chinchilla rabbits on some biochemical and haematological parameters of their blood were examined. Spent subsrate was pure wheat (Triticum vulgare) straw with the mycelium left after production of the fungus Pleurotus pulmonarius. Feeding experimental was carried out for 9 weeks, involving 30 rabbits divided into three groups (I, II, III). Each group concisted of 5 male and 5 female animals. The experiment commenced after weaning (30 days). Experimental groups were brought into weight equilibrium, placed into cages, and then were fed the balance and pelletised forage mixtures ad libitum. Group I received 10% substrate with their diet, followed by 20% and 30% of spent substrate fed to groups II and III, respectively. Based on the results of the feeding experiment, it was established that different proportion of spent substrate added to their diets produced no effect on the concentration of total albumin, total fat, triglycerides or total cholesterol in blood plasma of the rabbit. The same holds for number of erythrocytes and their average volume, the size of haematocrit and number of platelets. Rabbits receiving 30% of substrate with thier diet had a significantly greater concentration of haemoglobin than either of the 10% and 20% spent substrate groups (P>0, 05). Blood of the rabbits fed on 20% spent substrate showed a significantly elevated leukocytes, however, this may will be the cosequence of latent infections, rather than the result of components making the experimental forage mixture.
