Sažetak
Polymeric microparticles are an important drug delivery system for drug encapsulation and sustained release. Spray drying of an emulsion of hydrophilic drug aqueous solution in polymer organic solution is a robust technique of producing drug loaded polymeric microparticles with good control over physico chemical characteristics. The main objective of the present work was to prepare PLGA microparticles with encapsulated vancomycin by spray drying of stable water in oil (W/O) emulsions. Varying PLGA molecular weight and addition of chitosan as a hydrophilic polymer or surfactants to W/O emulsion affected appearance and stability of emulsion, influenced on spray drying process performance and drug release properties of PLGA microparticles.
