Sažetak
This paper mainly deals with a Valency Database of Croatian verbs, a database that will become the foundation of an on-line valency dictionary and a potential printed dictionary of Croatian verbs. The aim of creating a searchable online dictionary (database) is twofold: to serve as an additional help in studying Croatian as the second language and to be an available resource for linguistic research on verbs and their context. The linguistic, lexicographical and technical aspects of the Valency database and verb processing will be described in this paper. The Valency Database of Croatian Verbs is created as a three-level data entry in TshwaneLex-based user interface. We plan to have a searchable online dictionary of 900 verbs that we consider to be fundamental for basic communication. The valency patterns consist of syntactic, semantic, and morphological descriptions. Our valency descriptions and, consequently, the structure of the database are motivated by certain Croatian successors (SAMARDŽIJA 1986, RVHG 1993) and German valency dictionary VALBU 2004, but do not follow any of them in every detail. The first pilot class of psychological verbs has been processed till the end of the year 2014.
