Sažetak
Extended summary Computer aided language learning becomes more important in the globalized digital world. E-learning systems for foreign language acquisition are expected for each language that wants to be regarded as digitally literate. This also pertains for Croatian, which has become one of the official languages of the European Union in 2013. This systems should be developed in a manner that exploits all the possibilities of this new medium of multimodal and interactive man- machine communication. In this paper we present HR4EU, a web-portal developed for e-learning of Croatian, which also integrates bidirectional interaction with some of the Croatian language resources (LR) developed previously. HR4EU portal is a useful resource for e- learning of Croatian language because: 1) it is free of charge ; 2) it is developed by linguists, who are also native speakers and have experience in building LRs ; 3) it familiarizes the users with LRs and their use in language learning, but also uses language learners’ activity to: a. enhance and enlarge existing LRs ; b. build new LR: The Corpus of Croatian as a second language ; 4) it can be used on smartphones in an interactive and visually attractive manner ; 5) it provides users – students and working professionals with: a. specialized vocabulary b. instructions for writing important types of texts c. important documents and institutions which issue them 6) it presents Croatian heritage in interactive manner enabling the individualized exploration of particular areas of Croatian culture, history and everyday life.
