Sažetak
The authors in this paper research nautical port management in conditions of globalisation. Today, there is certain knowledge of nautical tourism that is the result of numerous researches although researches of nautical tourism ports, management aren't so frequent. The purpose of this paper is to analyse nautical port management on the example of Croatia in conditions of transitional economy. The aim of this research is to define a model for strategic management of nautical tourism ports by analysing the influence of various strategic factors on success of nautical port. It is known that business subjects work in a specific competitive surrounding so that nautical tourism ports are continuously exposed to other ports' competitive activities. For nautical tourism port it is essential to make business, to progress and hold out on the market. In order to achieve this, managers have to understand business surrounding where they work. It is possible if they develop adequate and efficient business strategies. A business strategy in that context is a plan that involves main guidelines that determine success of a nautical tourism port. Theoretical approach to management considers business success as a multi- dimensional term that explains various factors. As this is a specific area of concern, authors analyse practical experiences of Croatian managers in managing nautical tourism ports. Authors identify and define indicators of success evaluation in nautical tourism port business. They place special emphasis on the importance of holistic approach of managers towards challenges they are confronted with and problems inside nautical tourism port but also in the nearest surrounding and wider area. Authors consider this paper to be an encouragement for further research carried out especially by experts from that field of expertise but also carried out by adequate institutions and scientists.
