Sažetak
In Croatia at this moment, selection index is used for selection of boars and gilts which doesn’ ; t consider genetic and economic parameters of pig population in Croatia and therefore doesn’ ; t guarantee selection of the best animals. In year 2003, experimental genetic evaluation with BLUP was implemented. At the beginning only pure breed animals were considered. However, Slovenian information system PiggBank (1) had to be adapted for implementing such task. Additional validation checks were applied in order to assure consistency of the data. In first part we will begin with genetic evaluation for boars and gilts from field test.
