Sažetak
This work is a review of botanical, chemical and pharmacological data of the species Elymus repens (L.) Gould ( couchgrass ) and Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. ( Bermuda-grass )( Poaceae ). The underground parts of E. repens known as the official drug Rhizoma graminis are chiefly used for the treatment of urinary tract disorders. The rhizome of C. dactylon ( Rhizoma graminis italici ) is concerned to be the principle adulterant for the official drug. The results of our comparative phytochemical investigation of these species will be presented in one of the following issues.
