Sažetak
The topic of the thesis allowed the author to discover the number of foreign diplomatic representations that are accredited to Republic of Croatia, but also the type of diplomatic representation and how much diplomatic personnel they have secured for their representation. Furthermore, the author examined the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) of foreign diplomatic representations in Croatia as a tool for the states to show progressivity of their national agendas. The basic hypothesis of the thesis that was confirmed was that the embassies do use ICT and their official social media profiles, but only to promote their countries, share the knowledge about their culture, achievements and to encourage business cooperation and exchange of trade, while the space for open diplomatic signaling, position taking and political messaging is left to more discrete, traditional forms of communication (official letters, bilateral meetings, etc.). The results show which states have implemented a strategical approach to the use of ICT in self- promotion of the state, but also which states lack understanding or simply decline the role of the digital tools in their national diplomatic policies.
