Sažetak
A.schoenoprasum has specific biological and biochemical characteristics and is an important vegetable species. Permanent formation of new tillers, delicate and tasty leaves which make over 75 % of its total mass, provide a realistic base for wider cultivation of chives in our country. Chives is a foodstuff and a spice. but also a remedy (phytocide effect) rich in vitamin C (about 50 mg per 100g of fresh substance) and minerals, in particular with Fe, Mn and Mg. Its successful cultivation requires planting in early spring and then in late summer. It is cultivated as annual, biennial or perennial species. In winter it could be a tasty salad cultivated in a flowerpot.
