Sažetak
The book Private Security Sector in Southeast Europe is based on the cooperation of the authors Bakreski O., Ahić J. and Nađ I. in professional and academic synergy in the Western Balkans. The systems in private security of three countries were presented, namely the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Individuals, collectivities, societies or states that were unable to secure their territory, property, life solved this by hiring private soldiers or units. Mercenaries, private detectives, Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot have long been sparks of mystery, mystery, curiosity in human thinking, because they are an unrecognizable segment in real police and security services. Precisely because of this recognition, some very important and interesting segments of social processes, such as private security, do not receive enough attention in real-world studies. The very commercialization of certain interesting activities denies the possibility of their professional, scientific research and institutionalization. The mystification of the abilities of fictitious private detectives, capable bodyguards, top professional (private) killers on the one hand, and incompetent police officers who cannot solve cases or provide security to citizens on the other hand, lead to private detectives living and working only in imagination or on film (Holmes, Poirot, etc.).And is that really the case, and has there ever been a private activity that would offer a person protection if the state or the social community is not able to offer it to him?The answer to these questions should be sought in this work, which sheds light on the real situation in which private security emerged, developed, commercialized and institutionalized and all its segments that make it up, from security guards to private detectives in these three presented countries.
