Sažetak
Since the early days of the domestic record industry, which we can trace back into 1927, local authors and performers were recorded. A significant part of this production consisted of songs in the Kajkavian dialect, some of which are still often performed today and figure as representative regional examples. Among them is undoubtedly popevka "Vu plavem trnaci" by Đuro Prejac, which was in the observed period marked by the use of shellac gramophone records recorded several times for various record companies. Through available recordings of that Kajkavian song, this paper aims to delineate early discographic profiling of both the song in question and potentially Kajkavian music as a whole, especially considering the choice of musicians and stylistic and interpretive differences. Emphasis is thus placed on questioning the local character of record industry, taking into account its manifestation in the form of popevka as a locally specific genre, but also the fact that the Kajkavian dialect was since the mid-19th century an arena of debates on construction of local (regional) versus national identity. This research is part of a project focused on the period from 1927 to the end of the 50s in the production of three record companies in Zagreb.
