Sažetak
In his prose work of a modern structure entitled the Trilogy of Kurlani consisting of the novels Kurlani, gornji i donji (Kurlani, Upper and Lower) (1952), Neisplakani (The Unwept) (1955) and Tijela i duhovi (Bodies and Ghosts) (1981) written in a distinctive Stokavian vernacular of the native region flavoured with the writer's specially coined words, Mirko Božić vividly describes the souls of the characters with the originality and expressivity of the language. He, thus, raises them to the level of universal forces that form a general picture of the world and man, where the relationship between language and culture is indiscernible and bidirectional. The writer, with a specific linguistic idiom, creates and expresses a particular culture, and this culture is designed and constructed precisely by such linguistic expression.
