Sažetak
BIBLIOGRAPHY OF PLANT PROTECTION IN YUGOSLAVIA-This Bibliography, offered to the public by the author, gives the first overview of all publications in the field of plant protection published in Yugoslavia. Data contained in this book can be classified into three groups related to three periods.First Period includes publications published in various countries that in 1918 became the constituents of present Yugoslavia. In that period, starting with 1763, the year of the oldest reference in this book, the total of 174 papers was published. In other words, 1, 2 papers were published a year. Second Period deals with the time from 1918 through 1950. During that time total of 736 papers was published, averaging in 23 papers a year.Third Period starts in 1950 and is marked by the appearance of the Yugoslav specialized journal „Zaštita bilja" (Plant Protection), that offered a special stimulus and possibilities to publish various enclosures in the fied of plant protection. Owing to that journal the number of publications considerably increased in that period. From then to 1989 the number of published papers averaged around 350 annualy. This increase has also been a result of great changes in organization of scientific and professional plant protection institutions in our country.From the total of 14.575 papers included in this Bibliography, only 4.090 were published in 7 Yugoslav plant protection magazines. There are: „Zaštita bilja" - 1977 papers ; „Zbornik" of the Association of Plant Protection Societies - 645 papers ; „Glasnik zaštite bilja" - 407 papers ; „Biljna zaštita" - 405 papers, „Fragmenta herbologica Jugoslavica" - 294 ; „Biljni lekar" - 245, and „Acta entomologica Jugoslavica" with 108 papers. Out of all the papers presented in this Bibliography, the papers published in the above mentioned journals represent 27%. All other papers are distributed in about 350 other journals, bulletins and gazettes of various faculties and institutes, in local periodicals, and special issues of local, regional and republic symposia, conferences and other thematic gatherings, organized throughout Yugoslavia, and dealing with the problems of plant protection. In addition to all the above, results of research done in our country, have been published in about 500 international periodicals and other publications that pertained to international symposia, conferences and other scientific gatherings. Because of so many different sources, it has been very difficult to monitor results of scientific and professional activities pertaining to the plant protection in Yugoslavia. With all the above circumstances considered, the significance of this Bibliography is more than apparent. Although prepared and published only now, it finally offers our scientific and expert community, other interested experts and end users of scientific results, the possibility to find out what has been done in this field in our country up to these days. It also gives them the possibility to review the real state of art in this field of agriculture in our country. This is why we hope that this Bibliography will become the treasury of all that has been done and achieved in the plant protection scientific and professional activities, that each expert can use for further efforts in solving problems of plant protection, since it contains information on the results achieved so far. Furthermore, the modern computer techniques used for preparation of this Bibliography, offer quick and efficient use of the data base, since all the data are classified by fields and identified by Subject index. From all the above reasons, the idea to prepare this Bibliography should be saluted and its initiator, author, many associates and all others that contributed to its apparently successful realization, should be sincerely appreciated. Bibliographies of similar profile have long ago started to appear abroad and are presently periodically published. We, therefore hope that this sizeable volume is only the first in the series of issues to be periodically updated and published in our country. In would, of course, be very useful if the data from other agricultural field could be collected and classified in a similar manner and with the same purpose.
