Sažetak
Digitalization is a dynamic process which has been changing global societies and economies in the last two decades and its consequences are visible in trade, improving living standards, life expectancy and the quality of life. On the other hand, this process can also have negative and disruptive effects, mostly on the labour markets and worker’s skills. It is critical for the social cohesion and the sustainability of modern social models that rapid technological changes are effectively managed in a way to maximize the benefits and minimize the negative effects. This includes providing all citizens with tools and capacities to participate fully and successfully in the global digital transformation. The research in this paper is conducted to prove and deepen previous research on this topic which points out that in the future it will be difficult to tackle structural labour market issues such as skill shortages, persistence of unemployment or inequality with regard to forms of employment. Due to the increasing demand for new tasks, skill gaps between job requirements and the abilities of workers can also occur to a greater extent. Research results suggest that the impact of digitalization and other modern trends in the labour market and worker’s skills require special focus on main areas, such as continuous skill development, intelligent employment regulation, more preventive labour market policies and a complementary role of social dialogue.
