Sažetak
The presentation will consider the remains of pre-Romanesque liturgical installations found inside or near the Romanesque cathedral of St. Tryphon in Kotor (Montenegro), dedicated in 1166. The remains mostly come from the older cathedral or from the smaller memory of St. Tryphon, which was located on the site of today's sacristy. These are specifically the altar screen and the ciborium of the older cathedral, made by the Stone-carving Workshop from the Time of Bishop Iohannes of Kotor and dated to the end of 8th / beginning od 9th century, as well as a group of ciboria from the Stone-carving workshop of Kotor from the first half of the 9th century, led by the famous lion's arcade. The researchers hypothesized that these installations, after the demolition of the memory, ie the cessation of function of the older cathedral, were transferred to the newly built Romanesque cathedral to be used in the same function. A slightly different situation was observed in the Early Christian basilica in the center of Budva. Its older plutei, during the early Medieval restoration in which they lost their original function of dividing the nave from the side aisles, were used to make a large altar ciborium, also carved by the Stone-carving workshop of Kotor. The appearance and significance of this interesting phenomenon of re-using the liturgical installations are considered, as a kind of translatio memoriae from the old to the new site of cult. Special attention will be paid to the analogies for such a practice, observed in some other urban sites on the eastern and western coast of the Adriatic.
