Sažetak
Classical methods of using antibiotics in the treatment and prevention of microbial infections are facing major problems because the microorganisms are becoming resistant to many commonly used antibiotic treatments. The World Health Organization (WHO) in 2014 in its First Global Report on Antibiotic Resistance presented data from 114 Countries, and outlined this problem as a serious major world threat to public health - the emergence of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms. Given the fact that this serious threat has been confirmed in all regions of the world and that resistance to conventional antibiotics has reached alarming levels, the WHO calls for the implementation of infection control in health care facilities by preventing and developing new materials and procedures.Very often infections with resistant bacteria end fatally and have enormous adverse effects on human health. The correlation exists between the length of stay in hospitals for patients with infections caused by harmful microorganisms.Presented work deals with these problems and this presentation will show that antibacterial coatings containing nanoparticles can be a usefull tool against microorganisms resistant to antibiotics.
