Sažetak
The phenomenon of agôn (ἀγών) was a central feature of Greek culture from Homer to Socrates and a fundamental determinant of their daily life. Prominent experts for the Socratic method, e.g. Gregory Vlastos, Myles Burnyeat, Terence Irwin, Gerasimos Santas, do not consider agôn to be a relevant aspect and important component of elenchus. The main reason for this was probably because they wanted to portray Socrates as a model of the humanistic ideal which abandons the Greek-agonistic model as a principle of life.
