Sažetak
Harmonization of clinical laboratory results is recognized as an important objective of many scientific, regulatory and professional organizations. The underlying reason for all harmonization efforts is to obtain an overall benefit for patients who may be diagnosed and treated across different medical facilities, even health care systems. For this reason, the outcome of harmonization efforts must be monitored, and acceptable measurement uncertainties fit for clinical use have to be defined. Monitoring of harmonization between the results of a large number of measurement procedures (MPs) for one or more measurands is usually performed through external quality assessment (EQA) schemes.
