Sažetak
Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is collagen related bone dysplasia and genetic disease with incidence of 1/15.000 to 1/20.000 live births. OI is caused by quantitative or structural defect in Type I collagen (dominant OI - 85-90% of all patients)or my mutations in genes that interact with Type I collagen (recessive OI - 10-15% of all). On locomotor system fractures and deformities of fragile long bones are leading problems of affected individual. Mainstay of current management approach is medical treatment with bisphosphonates (BPs) surgery to correct deformities and prevent future fractures and personalized rehabilitation programme.
