Sažetak
Today we are witnesses of rapid growth of new medical field in the treatment of musculosceletal disorders. termed Regeneretive Medicine. In order to promote tissue healing Regenerative Medicine uses unconventional methods such as blood based procedures like platelet rich plasma, stem cell and cell based or tissue engineering procedure. In this way by stimulating and supporting the body’s own self- healing capacity it has the opportunity to become standard of care for numerous musculosceletal disorders in near future. However, Regenerative Medicine, by itself may not be sufficient to ensure successful translation into improving the function, especially because regenerative procedures are still variable due to lack of standardization in product preparation, administration, and different treatment protocols. Nowadays evidence show that mechanical and electrical stimuli provided by rehabilitation procedures may enhance the functional efficacy of Regenerative Medicine technologies. Thus the new field Regenerative Rehabilitation has emerged in order to promote synergy between the fields of Regenerative Medicine and Rehabilitation Science. Prescription of common physical therapy interventions such as passive and active range of motion, joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, and exercise after application of regenerative medicine procedures may provide beneficial effects for tissue healing and functional restoration. Nevertheless, optimal rehabilitation protocols that will enhance tissue healing and regeneration still need to be elucidated.
