Sažetak
Osteosarcoma is the most common malignant bone tumor in children. It is heterogenous disease presenting variable morphology and clinical behavior. Cytogenetic investigation of malignant cells are relatively few, and no chromosome aberrations specific for osteosarcoma have been identified yet. This work presents the results of cytogenetic investigation in two children with osteosarcoma- including one primary tumor in a girl and recurent metastasis of the femur and lung in a boy. The analysis was performed on slides obtained by direct method of tumor tissue treatment. The slides were stained by GTG-banding method. Both tumor presented complex chromosome changes and significant karyotype instability. The number of chromosomes in the analysed cells is very varable and ranged from 46 to 241. In both cases loss of normal chromosome 13 was detected. Numerous and complex structural chromosomal aberrations were identified. Malignant cells in primary tumor revealed varable structural abnormalities such as ring chromosomes, dicentrics and high number of unindentified markers. In both cases frequent telomeric fusion involving diferent chromosome types were observed. This finding is of interest since telomeric association were commonly observed in giant cell tumor of the bone.
