Sažetak
During the last decade Croatia has captured attention on the international tourist market. While tourism have a significant input to the national GDP Croatian tourism still predominantly relies on the “sea-and-sun” summer vacation concept in the coastal regions accompanied by only shy and humble move towards the extension of the season and attempts toward the development of tourism in inland regions, especially those affected by the recent war (1991-1995) which not rarely have huge potentials/resources for development of an (inter-)cultural tourism. This article discusses one of them, a national registered monument of the Janković Castle complex situated in the hinterland of the northern coastal zone of Dalmatia. While the complex has been heavily damaged during the conflict, after the war by so called "the Bridges Project" it became a place for heritage management experience - a place where regeneration of multi-ethnic life is sometime confronted with heritage professionals discourses but at the same time a place which indeed opens new perspectives within museum/heritage studies. Heritage is - after all - a story about people and their legacy, sometimes cursed and sometimes blessed by unpredictable destiny.
