Sažetak
"Croatia - Full of Life" is the very recent motto how the Croatian Tourist Board promotes the country with further niches as "Croatia, full of energy", "Croatia, full of diversity", "Croatia, full of flavours", "Croatia, full of love" etc. which very this year overturned previous one "The Mediterranean as it once was". Critical heritage approach offers reason to believe the new one is more flexible and thus more potential no matter the old one more directly relates to conventional idea of heritage, thus museum 'business' too. So how we, as the country stands here? During the last twenty five years, as the county gained (or re-established) independence, mentioning of the Croatia within the Europe and around the World was predominantly interconnected with three things: war, sport and tourism. While discussing firstly sport and even more tourism would be more appropriate if we look at today Croatia, chronological order of things concerning the last twenty five years dictates we must start with sadder topic: the war in ex-Yugoslavia (1991-1995). Since explanation, even a brief one of the causes of the war in the ex-Yugoslavia would demand at least sizeable book and because many have already been written, this article has no intention to go deep into this topic . At the beginning of the 21st century any war, no matter of causes (real or constructed) in its foundation should be recognised as completely unwanted process of destroying of human lives and mutually shared heritage of humankind, the statement valid for all those sadly going on right now. The war could hardly ever be a justified starting point for boosting national identity, heritage or creation of national branding, to use here a modern marketing term. The case of Croatia is not an exception.
