Sažetak
Formed in 1947, the organization of the Yugoslav Partisan war veterans (SUBNOR) diverted their struggle from the battlefields towards creating an “ideal socialist society” in the postwar period. Besides the care for its members and their socio-material wellbeing, the organization participated in the everyday socio-political life, thus generating diverse forms of post-revolutionary public engagement. This paper discusses the strategies of the veterans' organization, its political agenda, practices and anxieties at the municipal (case studies of Labin and Sisak) and republican level in Croatia in the 1970s and 1980s.
