Sažetak
This chapter analyzes the representations of Gabriele D'Annunzio's entry and occupation of Rijeka/Fiume as seen from the Yugoslav, and to a lesser extent American, press. This is part of a larger research project on media representations of Rijeka after the First World War, but for the purpose of this analysis only the events of 1919 will be covered. In addition to a brief overview of the historical and political context, there will be some discussion of the most recent studies on D’Annunzio in English and Croatian, although the scope of this chapter prevents an exhaustive analysis of the entire historiography dealing with the subject.
