Sažetak
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of mortality in the modern world. Many authors reported that normalization of the plasma lipids level have an important role in the prevention of CHD. The aim of the study was to check out the effect of 3-week exercise training program, diet and hypolipidemic medication therapy on plasma lipids level in patients with CHD. The study included 73 consecutive patients with CHD who underwent stationary cardiac rehabilitation program. The full lipids profile was done at day 2. and the day before the last day of rehabilitation. Fifty-three percent of patients (53 %) with initial high cholesterol plasma level, beside exercise training program and diet, were randomised on the cerivastatin 0, 2 mg or lovastatin 20 mg, while 47% patients with initial normal cholesterol plasma level underwent a rehabilitation program based on exercise training and diet. The levels of cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL-cholesterol in all three subgroups of patients at the end of rehabilitation were significantly lower in comparison with initial levels. There were no significant differences in initial and levels of HDL-cholesterol at the end of rehabilitation. Moderate physical activity and diet, especially in combination with hypolipidemic drugs already after three weeks efficiently lower the level of cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL- cholesterol and should be propagated in the prevention of CHD.
