Sažetak
The question of relation of a cardiorespiratory function and grade of spinal curvature with respect to the localization of apex of scoliosis and a percentage of surgical correction, is of a particular scientific and professional interest, in order to test the pulmonary function on the level of modern possibilities and thus better explain indication and confirm the way and success of surgical treatment of idiopathic thoracal scoliosis. The static and dynamic parameters of a cardiopulmonary function were tested by the method of spirometry, plethysmography, ergometry and gas analysis in arterial blood in 33 examinees, 27 females and 6 males in the age of 11-21 years. By determination of apex curve, the examinees were divided into the group of 21/63, 3%/ of examinees with the upper thoracal scoliosis, with the apex between Th5 and Th8 and the group of 12/36, 3%/ with the lower thoracal scolicis with apex Th9 and Th11. By the surgical corretion of 54.1% of preoperatives scoliotic curvature of the averaqe 72/52-129/32, 6/13-74 grades, by analysis of variance, it was found out a statistically significant difference in parameters of pulmonary function (VC accordirg to range and FEV1)between upper and lower scoliosis. The results suqgest significant changes of a pulrnonary function in upper thoracal scoliosis before ope- ration, which can not be corrected adequatly to the correction of a scoliotic spine and chest.
