Sažetak
Today, agriculture is no longer "only" a food- producing activity, but should also take into account the contribution to the wider interests of the community in terms of preserving production, stimulating employment, increasing income and encouraging exports. Due to rising costs, farmers are in serious temptation. The implementation of a sustainable production concept must also include a cost management policy. The aim of this paper was, through the coefficient of reactivity and the coefficient of economy, to show the movement of costs in relation to the current economic circumstances, and on the basis of these indicators to analyze the position of competitiveness in relation to the European Union. The economic policy should focus on increasing economic efficiency and improving the competitiveness of production and processing of agricultural and food products.
