Sažetak
Proper nutrition and regular physical activity are the main factors in maintaining good health during one’s lifetime. The aim of this study was to find out the nutritional status of students based on anthropometric data and age as well as their eating habits. Furthermore, to determine if there are differences between students depending on gender, age and their environment. The research was conducted through a questionnaire constructed for this research. The study of 651 students that participated was in a ratio of 41:59 urban/rural and 51:49 girls/boys. Most of the students had a normal body weight (73.88%), while only 3.22% were underweight, 7.52% were obese. The share of underweight and overweight students is bigger among the boys. The results showed that 74.50% of the students regularly have breakfast. More than half eat fruit and vegetables daily, while 51.46% consumed sweets and snacks on a daily basis. Students often eat meat products, while they eat fish once or twice a month. Nutritional habits differ between students from the urban and rural environments. As the students grow up they tend to eat breakfast less often (p=0.022), however the consumption of sweets (p=0.009) and the habit to drink sodas (p=0.027) increases.
