Sažetak
In the era of the ever-increasing presence of technological gadgets, it seems extremely difficult, if not impossible, to motivate students to read. Yet, if carefully selected, pieces of either classic or contemporary literature prove invaluable in the process of foreign language acquisition. Rich in vocabulary structures, they not only help raise awareness of subtle nuances that exist within language, but also offer an insight into culture as the specific background in which language itself was created. Pride and Prejudice written by one of the most enduring literary figures in English literature, Jane Austen, may serve as an excellent introduction into the world of literature. Being amusing, yet witty and ironic presentation of the manners and morals adopted by the British society at one particular period in history, Pride and Prejudice is certain to capture both the interest and imagination of students.
