Sažetak
Primary infection resulted in hepatosplenomegaly as well as in evident pathohistological changes of these tissues. Animals with depleted CD4+, CD8+ or NK cells were regularly capable of completely eliminating C. jejuni from analysed organs during the primary infection. Duration of primary infection in livers of CD4+ and CD8+ depleted mice was prolonged and the number of CFU was increased. In NK depleted animals the number of CFU in the liver was even more increased. Primary infection in the spleen was very much prolonged in CD8+ and NK depleted mice. The number of C. jejuni CFU in the liver did not significantly differ during primary or secondary infection, but C. jejuni could not be isolated from the spleens of animals during secondary infection. The duration of secondary infection was very much prolonged and the number of CFU was increased in the group of mice depleted of CD8+ cells. The experimental model presented seems to be useful for studying the role of T and NK cells in campylobacteriosis. The results show that cellular immunity indeed plays and important role in the defence against C. jejuni.
