Sažetak
Many children around the world are faced with different types of learning disabilities. They are often unfairly labelled as stupid and lazy. These children do not struggle because of low intelligence, in fact, most are just as smart as their peers or smarter. Their brains are simply wired differently. This difference affects their ability to create, process, or store information. The term “learning disabilities” refers to a group of disorders which cause difficulties in several academic abilities, namely speaking, reading, writing or working with numbers. Children with learning disabilities are capable of learning, but they need to learn things in different ways. In recent years, augmented reality has been considered as one of the technologies that can significantly change learning. Augmented reality is a technology that combines virtual reality with our physical world. When viewing the real world through the screen of a device, usually a mobile phone, the computer- generated digital content (text, audio, images, video, 3D objects) is layered over the physical world in a way that makes it appear to be part of the real environment. This technology can transform learning into a more fun, enjoyable, motivating and interesting activity. In this paper, the basics of augmented reality and its functionality will be described. Some of the learning disabilities will be presented, and the use of augmented reality as a learning tool for children with learning disabilities will be shown through practical examples.
