Sažetak
The paper deals with the possibility of smooth circular ring forming, in order to replace thin gear rim when its strength is evaluating. The recommendations defined on the basis of calculations by finite element method and mainly based upon the results of experimental investigations, include the rim deformation both in the plane and perpendicular to its plane. The smooth ring of equivalent rigidity which embraces the influence of the teeth on thin rim rigidity, is determined taking into account geometric parameters of basic rack profile and gear.
