Sažetak
Background and purpose: The goal of this study is to give an ascending linear arrangement of the brachyuran families in which contemporaneous knowledge of brachyuran systematics and evolution is reflected. Methods: The character polarity of some of the most important taxonomic characters was established formerly (8), and in this paper the most primitive and the most derived families were established within each higher taxon above family level, and all other families are interpolated between these extremes. Result and conclusion: The revised arrangement of the brachyuran families is presented in Table 1. Systematic position of some families is discussed.
