Sažetak
Blue energy potential evaluation and energy planning were carried out using the EnergyPLAN simulation model. Aim of this analysis was to evaluate the potential of renewable blue energy sources like a wave, tidal, offshore wind and seawater heat pumps for the case of Malta. Simulations and calculations were carried out using the accurate geographical and climate data, for the location where the blue energy technologies can be implemented or applied. Nevertheless, due to the complexity of the analysis and limited data source, it was inevitable to come up with some assumptions. Assumptions were made and carefully considered before being introduced to calculations to minimise the potential error or deviation in results. Results obtained from EnergyPLAN simulations are used to determine the potential production from renewable energy sources, and their impact on the overall grid stability. That was later compared to the existing scenario-based on conventional energy sources, and suitable conclusions are derived with the guidelines for further work.
