Sažetak
A digital multimeter is sometimes an indispensable part of the measurement process. However, direct measurements of physical values performed by a digital multimeter cannot be accurate and precise through whole measurement ranges. Sometimes these deviations can be so significant that the quality of the measurement process becomes disputable. The final measuring result in those ranges have greater deviation than true value. The aim of this paper is to analyze the boundary areas and conditions which are connected with suspicious correctness of the measurement process, as well as to find solutions for reducing systematic errors in these cases. The solution depends on the purpose of the measurement procedure and the conditions, as well as on the expected accuracy of measuring the physical value in a measuring range. By analyzing this problem, we want to draw attention to the fact that ignoring the impact of systematic errors on the measurement result in certain areas of the multimeter measuring range and omitting to enter a correction in the measurement result can cause gross measurement errors. Solutions and analysis presented in this paper are valuable for educational purposes as well, with the aim of developing engineering thinking and professional competences that enable the correct way of conducting a measurement process.
