Sažetak
THE ROLE OF HLA ANTIGENS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONTACT DERMATITIS A. Stašić, M. Lenković, E. Simonić, L. Prpić-Massari Department of Dermatovenerology, Clinical Hospital Centre, Rijeka, Croatia AIM: The authors have invastigated the possible association of HLA antigens with the development of the allergic contact dermatitis. Better understanding of this relationship can be helpfull in preventing professional allergic contact dermatitis. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: The authors have investigated 73 patients with allergic contact dermatitis (21 male and 51 female). In 47 patients (64.38%) the cause was professional allergen. The mean age of the patients was 39.5 years. In all cases the diagnosis was confirmed by epicutaneous testing. HLA class I and class II antigens were assessed by a standard microlymphocytotoxicity method. RESULTS: In more than 50% of cases we found an association with the following HLA antigens: DQw 1 in 53 cases, DQw3 in 42 cases and DR 2 in 37 cases. CONCLUSION: In this study we have clearly demonstrated the positive correlation of allergic contact dermatitis with HLA antigens. However, these are only preliminary results and for their confirmation futher studies are needed.
