Sažetak
Rosa hydrolyse mill L., commonly known as Damask rose is one of the most important species of Rosaceae family. Beside perfuming effect, Damask rose has several pharmacological properties including antioxidant effect. Sources of natural antioxidant are primarily phenolic compounds that are found in all parts of plants including rose leafs. The aim of this study was to investigate the total phenol content and antioxidant activity of leaf hydrosol obtained after ydrolysed n of damask rose leafs. The total phenol content was determined by Folin & Ciocalteu’s reagent and antioxidant activity using 1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) and 2, 2’-azino-bis(3- ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) method. Total phenol content of Damask rose leafs hydrosol was 73.73 µg/L. Regarding antioxidant activity measured with DPPH and ABTS method, Damask rose leafs hydrosol had 93.14 and 129.22 µmol trolox/mL, respectively.
