Sažetak
The new Croatian Private International Law Act came into force 29 January 2019. For the first time it includes a separate conflict-of-laws rule on personal names – prior to that it was questionable whether the issue was under the general personal status or the specific family status – e.g. marriage, adoption. The new rule is influenced by comparative rules, specifically Art. 10 EGBGB. The new rule accepts nationality as a connecting factor rather than habitual residence. That is most probably due to pubic law implications of name and due to the fact that nationality is accepted comparatively as a primary connecting factor for names as well.
